THE VOID IS TOO WIDE/
DORKET HEAD

Two more from Terry Maltby

THE VOID IS TOO WIDE

You stand at the far end

I stand two thirds

You have your opinions

And I have my words

We donít know the answers

To the questions inside

For youíre at the far end

And the void is too wide

The morning is waiting

The night lingers on

The dream that was fading

Has suddenly gone

The hour is ageing

The minute has died

For youíre at the far end

And the void is too wide

The void ever widens

So vast and so deep

My heart is breaking

My body feels weak

The thought of our parting

Turns my inside

For youíre at the far end

And the void is too wide

Once we were close

Like two books on a stand

No further away

Than the reach of a hand

The flood of emotion

Has begun to subside

For youíre at the far end

And the void is too wide

DORKET HEAD

Oh come with me to Dorket Head

To see the waving corn

Before the harvest is gathered in

And stacked against the barn

Oh come and see the golden lakes

That shimmer in the dawn

Before this sultry weather breaks

And this enchanted moment gone

Come with me to view the scene

To make a cold heart warm

Where wild free spirits flit between

The sky and the golden corn

Oh come with me to Dorket Head

Come let us go together

To see the fiery sunset spread

Before the changing of the weather
