The Lost Of A Soldier

My father was a soldier

He fought within a war

My mother told me

When I was only four

I saw the tears in my motherís eyes

I saw the pain upon her face

She told me he served his country

In a God forsaken place

All we have left are memories

Of all the good times gone by

When I look at my fatherís medals

It brings a tear into my eye

I watched my motherís pain

And the courage to carry on

I was among thousands

Who lost a father on the SOMME?
