Help Me Make It Through The Night

As I lay awake in bed

I squeeze my pillow tight

Through my tears I say out loud

Help me make it through the night

It’s been so long since I have slept

Every night I toss and turn

Whilst my baby’s far away

The pain inside me burns

Through the day I face the world

With a smile upon my face

But it’s so hard to be cheerful

When my baby’s in that place

People round me sympathise

But they don’t really understand

What it’s like to have your baby

At war in a far off land

I don’t care who’s right or wrong

Or what has been done so long before

I just want my baby home

Not fighting someone else’s war

Until my baby is home with me

I squeeze my pillow tight

Through my tears I’ll shout out loud

Help me make it through the night
